Defence Properties Finland has initiated enhanced security and preparedness measures.
The rapid change in the security environment has greatly affected our activities. In late winter 2022, we initiated enhanced security and preparedness measures in Defence Properties Finland and across Senate Group and allocated resources for this. The focus on contingency and preparedness as well as security is also reflected in improved reliability.
Preparedness and security measures include the accelerated refurbishment and development of critical premises, ensuring the sufficiency of electricity and energy, material preparedness as well as the development of Defence Properties Finland’s own management preparedness and security and preparedness expertise.
We are responsible for the availability of premises in all situations. This role is very visible in the Defence Forces’ many exercises and planning events, where our personnel practice their own duties. The most important exercises in 2022 were the Finnish Air Force’s Ruska 22 exercise and the Finnish Defence Forces’ Logistics Command’s leadership exercise and partner exercises at various levels.
One of the most relevant things to be tested now is the security of energy and electricity supply, which is why we hold joint Blackout exercises with clients. Besides various exercises, we also had a prominent role in building preparedness led by the Finnish Defence Forces.
In 2023, we will continue to improve the preparedness and availability of shelters and other critical facilities. We will direct the focus of service provision to the most important areas from the preparedness and security aspect. We will transfer the maintenance of less critical facilities to our partners.
We make comprehensive security and contingency agreements with our partners. We are responsible for the security clearances and expertise of our service providers on a turnkey basis.
We are expanding Defence Properties Finland’s activities to support the Finnish Defence Forces’ crisis management operations and the obligations imposed by future NATO membership.
